The {first} Internship Review

Every girl who's interested in a career in the fashion industry dreams of that first glamorous internship inside a fancy office with loads of free goodies and everyone walking around in Louboutin stilettos  Well, let me break it down for you. Not ever first internship is like that. I mean a girl can dream right? I sure did. My first and current internship happens to be remote. It's not necessarily a bad thing; working from home at my own flexible hours and getting to sleep in and not having to wake up at the crack of dawn certainly has it's benefits, but the lack of physical and spoken interaction between my boss and co-workers sometimes makes me wish I was inside an office. Technically I am getting the same experience and doing the same work I would if I was inside an office but it's still not the same thing. But anyways, I'm not here to talk about the downside of my internship, though I'll get to that in another post when the Summer officially ends and I head back to university. So let's get to the good stuff and what I actually do...

1. I work for a stylist network which I'll reveal at the end of my internship.
2. My official title is Social Media/Marketing Intern. (sounds pretty fancy and cool huh?)
3. I work on projects and e-mail and talk on the phone with my boss pretty much everyday.
4. I actually do work. I mean I research thoroughly on the projects I'm given and make sure to send updates everyday day so my boss can know I'm on track .
5. My job is fun! At least to me it is, I get to help manage the company Facebook, assist with marketing ideas and pitch marketing strategies to promote company events.
6. My boss rocks. She gives me real work to do and is always friendly and gives me constructive criticism.
7. I can tell this company values their interns to some degree despite the job not being paid. I don't get stuck answering boring e-mails or doing menial work. I get to work on actual projects and seeing my work displayed on company websites and social media platforms makes me proud!
8. I've already learned how to be more professional despite I've been at this internship for a little less than a month.

So there's my review of my first (almost) month of interning. These are just my experiences I want to share with you guys. I know how hard it is to find an internship and how sometimes hearing about other's experiences can help you find the right internship or do better in one. I'll be giving monthly reviews of my job and one last one in August. I want to hear about yours! Leave questions and comments below please! Or tweet and and I'll reply too :).

XO's

Summer Sandal Crave

When it comes to Summer...I'm obsessed with wearing sandals! Attending school in the Midwest keeps my toes buried in flats and boots for most of the year so I like the set my toes free once warm weather arrives! I picked some of my favorite sandals for this season. I love the detailled embellishments and bright colors! They can add a pop of color to any outfit and are perfect for everyday wear in the Summertime. Let me know what you think of them.

Memorial Day Weekend: Austin

This past weekend, I took a road trip down to Austin with a couple friends to celebrate Memorial Day! It was a weekend filled with laughter, good food, and good company. We spent our time in kayaking on Lady Bird Lake, eating out way through downtown (check out a post soon for the best restaurants in Austin!), and shopping at unique local stores. I feel so blessed that I got to spend Memorial Day weekend with friends and I'm grateful for the men and women who serve this country. Hope you guys had an awesome weekend too!

frolic in floral

Somehow, whenever the weather gets warm, I find myself going back to a very cliche yet classic trend- florals. “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” as Meryl Streep would say in her stone cold yet bad-ass female fashion editor role in The Devil Wears Prada. I know, I know, florals have been around forever. But this season I find myself wearing them in a very different way than I usually do. Forget the skirts and chiffon tops and bring in the trousers. Floral print on pants is a great way to brighten way up simple tops and plain work outfits if worn the right way. I’ve picked some of my favorites below for you guys! Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Excuses, Excuses

Hello all, I know I haven't blogged in a very long time, and I really don't have any excuse for why. So, I just wanted to let you guys know that in the next three weeks I'll have 2-3 new posts coming up! My life has been a little hectic since I've been back from my 3-week long trip (expect vacation photos btw). Anyways, I've have so much to-do in these next few weeks and I've put off enough errands during the 2 weeks I've been back so, it's time to get up off my lazy bum and start checking things off my to-do list! I hope you guys have been well and I'll see you guys in a week or so!
